Unsupervised clustering

Data clustering is an essential unsupervised learning problem in data mining, machine learning, and computer vision. In this chapter, we present in more depth our work on clustering, introduced in the first chapter, for which second- or higher order affinities between sets of data points are considered.

Unsupervised clustering. K-means is one of the simplest unsupervised learning algorithms that solve the well known clustering problem. The procedure follows a simple and easy way to classify a given data set through a certain number of clusters (assume k clusters) fixed a priori. The main idea is to define k centroids, one for each cluster.
