Two years ago I agreed to be the advisor for our institution's chapter of the NSLS honor society. I had some reservations at the time, but I was headed for promotion and the students were enthusiastic, so I swallowed my concerns and signed on. Since then I've become increasingly nervous about supporting this organization.
